Mount Washington itself can be reached via the Cog Railway on the west side, and the Auto Road on the east
side, or by foot on the vast network of hiking trails. The Cog Railway climbs directly to the summit (more
or less) on its 3.1-mile track, while the 8-mile Auto Road winds its way up Chandler Ridge on the east
