At 5:30 p.m. EDT on August 3, 1996, I decided to expand my Mt. Washington pictures page into an entire website about the mountain.  Since there were really no Mt. Washington websites on-line at the time, I registered mountwashington.com and got to work.

The site had a home page and 9 major sections.  The previous one-page site became the "Pictures" section, and its document layout was more or less used everywhere in the new site, with the addition of a button bar at the bottoms of the index pages.  Each major section was given its own unique background color, too.  The distinctive MOUNTWASHINGTON.COM front page strongly resembles today's version!

The 894-file initial version of the site went on-line at 2:00 p.m. Christmas Day, 1996.  : - )
